Nangai Oil | Canarium indicum

Ingredients: Canarium Indicum Seed Oil.

Nangai Oil is produced from the kernels of Canarium indicum nuts in Vanuatu. The prepared kernels are cold-pressed to release their natural oil then the oil is lightly filtered before bottling.

The finished product is a single-ingredient botanical oil with no added fragrance or carrier oils.

As an unrefined and minimally processed natural product, subtle differences in colour, aroma and consistency may occur between batches.

The natural aroma is typically mild, soft and lightly nutty rather than strongly perfumed. No fragrance is added to create or standardise its scent.

Face & Body: Apply a small amount to clean skin and massage gently until evenly distributed. Begin with a small quantity and apply more if required.

Hair: Apply a small amount through the lengths or ends of the hair to help condition and smooth. Begin sparingly particularly on fine hair.

Massage: Apply a small amount to the skin as required and massage gently.

Canarium indicum is a tropical tree native to Vanuatu and other parts of the wider Melanesian region including New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

Its edible kernels have longstanding importance as a traditional food source within Melanesian communities and are eaten in a variety of forms. The naturally oil-rich kernels can also be pressed to produce Nangai oil.

In Vanuatu, Nangai forms part of a much broader relationship between local communities and useful plants that provide food and materials for everyday life.

Our Nangai Oil is sourced from Vanuatu and retains the mild aroma, natural colour and characteristic consistency of minimally processed Canarium indicum seed oil.

Caution: Patch test before first use. For external use only. Avoid direct contact with the eyes. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children.

Allergy Information: Nangai Oil is derived from Nangai nuts. Do not use if you have a known allergy to Nangai or Canarium indicum.

Storage: Keep the bottle securely closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

Natural Temperature Variation: Nangai Oil can naturally become cloudy, thicken, crystallise or substantially solidify during cooler conditions. Published physicochemical research on Canarium oil has reported a melting point of approximately 22–23°C. This temperature-related change in consistency is reversible and does not by itself indicate that the oil has spoiled or is defective.

If the oil has thickened or solidified, ensure the bottle is securely closed and allow it to warm gradually in a comfortably warm room or place the closed bottle in lukewarm water for a short period. As it warms the oil should progressively soften and return towards a liquid consistency.

Do not microwave the bottle or expose the oil to boiling water or excessive direct heat.

Refrigeration: Refrigeration is not required and may cause Nangai Oil to become substantially thicker or solid. This is normal and reversible.
